Accreditation
Mount Carmel Seminary and College is accredited by Transworld ACI an agency that has a proven record for high standards in the industry of higher education. Many of today’s prestigious religious leaders have attended institutions under Transworld ACI accreditation
MCSC has applied for, and received, “Religious Exemption” status from the State of North Carolina.
We hold that our accrediting body is far above any accrediting agency because we are allowed to teach the Word of God, and only the Word of God, without outside dictation.
The Director of the North Carolina Department of Higher Education has determined that Mount Carmel Seminary and College does not offer courses or degrees customarily offered at colleges and universities and that certification is not required by the North Carolina Higher Education Coordinating Board.
The University of North Carolina is the authorizing Licensure body for Non-public or Out-of-State Institutions MCSC is exempted based on conducting degree program activity relative to religious education [G.S. 116-15(d)], the institution demonstrates to the satisfaction of the UNC President on recommendation of staff that it should be exempt from licensure. Staff bases its recommendation on examination of an application containing relevant documentation in determining whether the nature and intent of programs warrant exemption. On September 12, 1997, the Board adopted further revisions to its policies by emphasizing the importance of institutions displaying full degree titles and disclosures in all advertising and literature that their exemption from licensure represents no assessment of program quality as does licensure.
After examination of our documents and a visit by NCU, Mount Carmel Seminary and College was found exempt, and permission was granted to begin the degree programs in accordance with the provision of the North
Carolina Department of Education General Statues Section 1005.06(1)(f).
Staff makes an annual inquiry of institutions concerning their continuation of adherence to the bases upon which their exemption was conferred. Exemption from licensure continues for institutions unless it is suspended or revoked by the President on recommendation of staff. For more information, please click here.
