Archbishop Dr. Ronald R. Mayo

Archbishop Dr. Ronald R. Mayo, Sr. is a visionary leader and the founder of Mount Carmel Seminary and College, established in 2016 in New Bern, North Carolina. With unwavering dedication to faith-based education, Archbishop Mayo has built the institution from the ground up, focusing on empowering future Christian leaders through accredited theological programs.

A native of Harlem, New York, Archbishop Mayo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and a Master of Divinity from Norfolk Seminary & College in Virginia. He also earned a Ph.D. in Divinity from the College of Metaphysical Theology in Minnesota, alongside advanced post-doctoral fellowships in Counseling, Psychology, and Theology.

Beyond his role in academia, Archbishop Mayo has devoted decades to ministry, education, and community service. He is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Mount Carmel Worship Center and has held leadership positions in several theological organizations. His numerous accolades include receiving The President’s Lifetime Achievement Award from President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. in 2023, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine from the Governor of North Carolina, and multiple recognitions for his community impact.

As a retired combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps, honorably discharged at the rank of Master Sergeant (E-8), Archbishop Mayo continues to inspire service and resilience. He is a published author, recording artist, and global ambassador for theological education, having established extension programs in Cameroon, Africa.

Married to Connie G. Mayo for over 38 years, they are blessed with seven children and twelve grandchildren. Archbishop Mayo remains committed to leading by example, sharing Christ’s love, and fostering spiritual growth in individuals and communities worldwide.
